Eastern Cape Creator Retreat 2027: Two Weeks on South Africa’s Wild Coast

Eastern Cape Creator Retreat 2027: Two Weeks on South Africa’s Wild Coast

Chintsa, on the coast of the Eastern Cape, you will find a lagoon that meets the sea just below the lodge that will host the first Eastern Cape Creator Retreat from 3 to 17 March 2027. This is a first of its kind retreat that will bring together digital creators of different types to work online and offline to connect and learn over 14 days, split into seven nights, getting to know the Wild Coast, its people and its culture and the second seven will be for learning and creating something with the people you meet there. You can join either week or stay for the whole 14 days.

Explore & Recharge - 3 to 10 March

The first week will start with settling in before sundowners on the dunes, followed by a welcome dinner and daily local activities each day, including beach hikes, surf sessions, yoga, art & pottery workshop, cultural visit & local school project, river canoeing, local craft brewery visits and bonfire & outdoor movie nights, plus even a safari option at extra cost.

If you’re bringing work with you don´t worry as there’s shared coworking space and plenty of free time each day.

Learn & Create - 10 to 17 March

The second week starts with meeting local entrepreneurs who will share stories from the area to help you connect and understand this unique part of South Africa. Then there will be daily workshops on content creation/storytelling, running a solo business, practical uses of AI and peer skills exchange, giving participants a chance to help or teach something they use in their own work to others.

The final day will be a community challenge with participants teaming up with locals to work on a problem identified locally and build an online or offline solution. We will close the week with a creator showcase, including a video and reel competition and a community challenge winner.

This is the week to choose if you’d like feedback on your work or have a skill to share.

If you are looking for a lower-cost stay, the weekly rates are €83 for a dorm bed and €38 for camping, with meals extra. As a guide, one week with a programme ticket and a shared budget en-suite comes to around €389 per person before transport, lunches and paid activities - the full detailed programme will be published soon.

Getting to Chintsa

From Cape Town or Johannesburg, look for flights to East London’s King Phalo Airport (ELS). Allow roughly 40 to 60 minutes by road from the airport and arrange your transfer in advance. If you’re driving yourself, follow the turn for Chintsa West. For these March dates, Chintsa is two hours ahead of the UK and one hour ahead of Barcelona, useful if you’re keeping European office hours.
